From the moment guests cross the old stone bridge into Skenfrith, they can unwind among wooded hills, riverside views and timeless calm.
Our seventeenth century coaching inn was commended for combining history with contemporary comfort. The review noted our flagstone floors, oak beams and roaring open fires, describing The Bell as “never twee or quaint, unlike other upscale country hotels” but instead relaxed, characterful and welcoming.
We were thrilled that the food received such high praise. Led by our talented head chef Joseph Colman, the kitchen creates menus that celebrate local and seasonal produce, much of it from our own gardens. The review described The Bell as “a must for foodies,” and we are especially pleased that our thoughtful approach to dietary needs, including vegan dining, was recognised as “truly exceptional.”
Our rooms were described as “large, elegant and brimming with light” with “luxury bedding, antique furnishings and beautiful garden or river views.” Each of our eleven rooms has its own charm and peaceful atmosphere, and it is lovely to see this reflected in the review.
Service was also praised as “flawless,” with special mention for the warmth and attentiveness of our team. From a thoughtful gesture with a pen and notepad to remembering a guest’s preference for soya milk, these small touches are what make a stay at The Bell feel personal and memorable.
