We are delighted to share that The Bell at Skenfrith has been featured in The Telegraph and received a wonderful 9 out of 10 expert rating from travel writer Kerry Walker.
Described as “a class act, with a peerless wine list and season driven cuisine”, the review captures what we love most about life here beside the River Monnow: relaxed luxury, delicious food, and the simple pleasures of good company, good wine, and beautiful countryside.
The Telegraph praised our historic charm, noting how our seventeenth century coaching inn combines character with comfort. Drinks are served on the terrace overlooking the kitchen garden in summer and beside open fires in winter. It is always a pleasure to see guests enjoying these timeless settings throughout the seasons.
We were especially pleased that our service, facilities and rooms each received 9 out of 10. With individually designed bedrooms named after fishing flies, and our much loved Dog and Boot Bar and Pooch Parlour, The Bell continues to be a favourite for walkers and dog lovers alike.
A special mention also goes to our kitchen team, led by Chef Joseph Colman, whose passion for local and seasonal produce has been warmly recognised. The Telegraph described our food as “served with generosity and flair”, which perfectly reflects the spirit of our kitchen.
We are so grateful to our guests, our team and our local community for helping us create a place that feels both welcoming and timeless. We are also very thankful to The Telegraph for recognising what makes The Bell such a special place to visit in the Welsh countryside.
Whether you are joining us for a romantic weekend, a country walk with your dog, or simply a glass of wine by the fire, we look forward to welcoming you soon.
